Hungary’s biggest event of design celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Founded and sponsored by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and organised by the Hungarian Design Council, Budapest Design Week is most definitely the most important design-related event of the country. In 2018, the main topic of the event is progress, innovation and community – three key elements in shaping the future. Involving practically all stakeholders from institutes to museums, showrooms, design studios, shops and galleries, Budapest Design Week will be longer than usual, seizing the opportunity of the anniversary to extend the festivities from 10 to 15 days. It will also be more extended geographically: besides its regular partners Pécs, Sopron and Győr, at least 2 new cities will celebrate Hungarian design this autumn. According to plans, some 250 events will take place between 5 and 19 October in Hungary, with Germany as the Guest of Honour. This is certainly a very good reason to visit Budapest this year.
