Commission releases its first Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor

On 6 July, the European Commission will release the first ever edition of the 'Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor', a new tool providing comparable data on how European cities perform in the areas of culture and creativity, and how this performance contributes to economic growth and job creation. This first edition of the Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor shows how well 168 selected cities in 30 European countries perform on a range of measures describing the ‘Cultural Vibrancy’, the ‘Creative Economy’ and the ‘Enabling Environment’ of a city, using both quantitative and qualitative data. The scores of these three measures are then aggregated in an overall index (the ‘C3 Index’) based on a set of weights designed together with experts in the field. More info:
