UK Design Council responds to Industrial Strategy Green Paper

The Design Council have shared a design blueprint in response to the UK government’s recent Industrial Strategy Green Paper; they also share news of their Transforming Aging project.

Design Council published its response to the UK's government's Industrial Strategy Green Paper, setting out a design blueprint to drive and deliver resilient, inclusive and sustainable growth. Consulting a wide range of stakeholders including business, academics and built environment professionals, we have set out what we believe are five core principles that will drive the economy of the future: people, ideas, place, skills and sectors. Design Council has also been busy setting up our new project Transforming Aging (http://www.designcouncil.org.uk/what-we-do/transform-ageing). This I a pioneering programme taking a design-led approach to improving people's experience of ageing in the UK. Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, this new cross-sector initiative will bring together people in later life, social entrepreneurs and health and social care leaders to define, develop and deliver new solutions that better support the needs and aspirations of our ageing communities. Between 2015-16, four UK councils applied to the Design Council and Local Government Association public sector accelerator programme, Design in the Public Sector, to help them re-evaluate how to tackle the challenges specific to adult services and deliver better design-led solutions.
